Since July 2018, Google has announced that chrome browser will start making all websites without SSL as insecure. So, today I am going to tell you how to change http to https by adding a SSL Certificate.
Secondly, Google also announced that websites with SSL will also see SEO benefits and higher rankings. Since the announcement, a large number of websites have switched from http to https.
The notice (Your site is not secure) gives your visitors a bad impression. So, I recommend you to switch to https but first let me explain you both.
Http (Hyper text transfer protocol) is the method by which data is moved around the web.
http is fast and reliable but there are a lot of ways to hack your data.
Https (Hyper text transfer protocol secure) is used on sites that feature e-commerce, banking, and even just a login page.
https protects data by encrypting it before sending it either way by using an SSL Certificate. (Secure Sockets Layer Certificate)
How to change http to https ?
First of all, you need to purchase the Certificate from your hosting provider (or from third party) and install it. But how? Don’t worry, for more details see our guide SSL Certificate.
Websites like Siteground, automatically redirects your website from insecure to secure https connection.
After installation you will see a padlock on the left of your url, https instead of http. Congratulations now your website is secure. Now, when a user enters your SSL encrypted website, the address bar in their browser will turn green.
It is a powerful visual ‘green light’, telling the user that they are on a safe site.
That’s all my friends, if you have any other questions in your mind, then don’t hesitate to comment below.
